Stamp Duty (TAX) Reduction In Force.

For the period 1 April 2009 to 30 September 2009 purchasers of real estate in the Cayman Islands will benefit from reduced rates of Stamp Duty, providing the transaction is completed within this time window. To assist in understanding the changes, the Department has prepared a summary document, highlighting the new rates and transitional arrangements.
The level of reduction will vary depending on the location and whether the purchaser is Caymanian. The reductions are from: 7.5% to 5% within the ‘Seven Mile Beach Corridor’ (including some areas of West Bay and George Town) (for all purchasers); 6% to 5% in all other areas, where the purchaser is not Caymanian, or is a company; 4% to 3% in all other areas where the purchaser is Caymanian; 2% to 1% for First Time Caymanians when purchasing land with a Consideration / Market Value of CI $50,001 – CI $75,000 or residential property with a Consideration / Market Value of CI $200,001 – CI $300,000, for owner occupation, outside of the Seven Mile Beach Corridor.
